A living report on the state of the video game industry in Russia

In 2023 the Russian video game industry finds itself in a difficult position on the one hand, yet with clear room to grow on the other, particularly in mobile games and esports.

To understand the state of the field you have to see its place in the wider world, and judge an individual studio, the support measures available and the events being held — educational and professional alike — against that background.

The update to the Living Report published on 20 June, covering October 2022 to May 2023, brings together figures on the global and Russian markets, news from Russian studios, technology trends and possible support measures.

A short overview of the Living Report is available in an article by Vasily Ovchinnikov, director of VIDO.

A summary of the previous update covers February to September 2022.

The report will keep being updated. Everyone with an interest is invited to share opinions, comment and discuss.
